We don’t claim to be familiar with every language on the planet. We just stick to what we know best: Norwegian, English, German, Swedish and Danish.
Translation
Our core business – around 90% of all enquiries we receive are concerned with translation. In other words, to interpret or render a text in a different language. Our aim is to create a translation that conveys the inherent thoughts and content of the original text as objectively and appropriately as possible. At the same time, the form and style of the original text must be preserved to ensure that it retains its appeal to the relevant target group. My Word only engages qualified translators who are capable of fulfilling these criteria.
Proofreading/Language vetting
We also proofread every type of text in all our working languages. Proofreading involves a full revision of grammar, terminology, spelling, punctuation, sentence structure, consistency and layout. The final text will be delivered to the client in two versions: one with visible changes marked in red and a second version that is ‘ready for use’, in which all changes have been integrated. We have ongoing proofreading assignments with several of our clients.
Language vetting is a type of extended proofreading that also aims to improve the use of language, where necessary. In addition to the full revision described above, the text is adapted with a view to enhancing its style and structure. The result of this process will be a text that conveys its message in a clear and convincing manner.
